Munters’ Climate Control System brings livelihood to Turkish Agriculture

Disease free, high yield banana plantations produced from tissue cultures within Turkey’s Toros Agripark are just one of many products reaped from the use of a Climate Control System from Munters. The system, recently designed for Agripark’s greenhouses, is increasing production at the facilities located in the Uçakalani region of Adana, Turkey.

Munters helps Italian tomato harvest succeed

The south of Sicily is one of the best places for tomato plants growth, thanks to the mild winters, and the hot-dry summers. Of course, the vegetation also benefits from the Mediterranean sea breeze. This is where Mr. Giuseppe Muriana is growing the popular cherry tomatoes. Only a few cold days during the wintertime can create serious problems for the horticulture production. When the temperature falls below zero, the plant production can be lost, and in the case of just a few degrees above zero, the GP130 heaters strategically placed for the optimal air distribution.

Export quality roses thanks to CELdek® system

The South African company Morgan Roses, was founded in 1996, just outside the town of Warmbaths. Initially, it had naturally ventilated greenhouses covering an area of one hectare. The company has now expanded to encompass 4.5 hectares, producing about six million roses a year. Morgan Roses sells to the local market and exports to international markets, i.e. Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. During 2001, the average price for roses on the South African market was ZAR*) 0.72 each, while the average export price per rose amounted to ZAR 1.40. It would obviously be of great advantage for Morgan Roses if they were able to export a large percentage of their roses. The only thing keeping them from doing so was the difficulty in growing sufficient high quality roses to meet the quality standards and continuity of supply demanded by the export market. At the time, only about 40% of their roses met these standards.

Colorful orchid plants bloom with Munter´s Climate Control System

In the beautiful area of the Colle Eganei, northern Italy, the Gamberoni family is producing amazing Phalaenopsis orchids. The family has been running their flower business from 1963. In 2001 a new production of the very valuable blooming pot plant Phalaenopsis orchids was taking place. The greenhouses are laid out over 14,000 square meters where twelve employees are able to produce an average yearly yield of 400,000 Phalaenopsis orchid plants in various colors. Thanks to Munter´s Climate Control System the ideal flowering conditions has been accomplished. The CELdek evaporative cooling pads and Euroemme fans are preserving a tropical climate with high relative humidity for successful orchid production.

Cool roses grow in Sicily thanks to CELdek® System

Macauda Giovanni and Flamingo Giovanna started out by growing carnations back in 1971. In 1982, they turned to growing roses using conventional methods, and with excellent results. This convinced them to dedicate their business exclusively to the cultivation of roses, whereby they made use of innovative up-to-date methods such as artificial substrata to boost product quality. The outstanding success of this new venture subsequently led to the company taking the new name of "Piccola Società Cooperativa Sicil Rose a r.l." in 1999. Today, it is a flourishing business that commands a total greenhouse area of some 25,000 square meters, which produces over 2,500,000 high quality roses annually.

CELdek® system helps turn small tomatoes into big profits

A new tomato-grower Hennie Fouche has cleverly managed to make his business venture a great success despite fickle weather conditions. Situated in the South African town of Naboomspruit, his sophisticated greenhouse complex has been equipped with 24 Euroemme™ EM50 1.5-hp exhaust fans and 115.2 meters of CELdek® evaporative cooling pad from Munters. This technology makes it possible for Mr. Fouche to produce and market high-quality cocktail tomatoes in spite of ambient temperature variations ranging from below freezing in winter to 38 °C (100 degrees F) in summer, not to mention temperature swings of 25 degrees between night and day. Although he had no previous history of growing tomatoes, Mr. Fouche has succeeded in beating numerous competitors on the South African market at their own game with the help of the advanced CELdek system from Munters.
